Lincolns at Glenmoor ... And More!!!

Cover Story: Ex-Frank Lloyd Wright Continentals at Pebble Beach

On the Cover: For only the third time in 32 years, Lincoln-Continentals appeared on the eighteenth green in front of the Lodge at Pebble Beach near Monterey, California, on Sunday, August 15th, 2004, for the annual Concours d'Elegance, the most famous and prestigious car show in the world. To qualify for Pebble Beach, cars must have special significance, and the two Continentals that were shown this year certainly have that. They were both first owned by, and customized by, America's most prominent and influential architect of the 20th century, Frank Lloyd Wright. They included his 1940 Continental Town car, made from a cabriolet, and his 1941 Continental Coupe, both seen on our cover. The cars are now owned by motion picture producer Joel Silver, who had them restored by David Kuhn Restorations, of Savannah, Georgia. Both are finished in the Cherokee Red specified for them by Mr. Wright, and that same shade of red-orange is used as the background color for our cover. The stunning automotive portrait on our cover is from the camera of professional photographer Ron Kimball, who shot the two celebrity cars against the vibrant colors of a summer sunset on the Pebble Beach green after the conclusion of the concours. © Ron Kimball Studios
