Cover Story: The Lincoln Factory; Built 1917 - Razed 2002 On
the Cover:
This was the factory of the Lincoln Motor Company.
It was located on Warren Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. Every Lincoln
Model L, K, KA, KB, 1921 to 1939, was manufactured here, and so was
every Lincoln-Zephyr, Continental, and Custom, 1936 to 1948. Production
of Lincolns continued here until 1957, when new factories were built
elsewhere, and this property was sold to the Detroit Edison Company,
which made excellent use of it for over forty years.
But now Detroit Edison has been bought out by a larger company, which
does not need these old buildings, so they are being torn down. A full
report will be found on page 10. |
